This new Rolls-Royce electric car will skip plug-in hybrid powertrains and use R&D funds. It will show off an all-new aluminium spaceframe contrary to a reworked BMW’s CLAR platform.
However, it is known to use BMW’s electric drive technologies, including electric motors, axles, and Samsung SDI-supplied battery packs.
A new range of luxury electric cars is rumoured to be introduced by Rolls-Royce in the first quarter of this decade kicking off with a “Silent Shadow” model.

According to Company CEO Torsten Müller-Ötvö, “we need to make smart decisions of where we invest our money. It may be okay for bigger companies to go into hybrids and all sorts of different technologies. We needed to make a certain decision.”
The model Silent Shadow will go against the Mercedes-Benz EQS flagship which aims for at least 500 km range in full charge. Though details are not yet out for the public, it could either be rear- or all-wheel-drive configuration. It may also push to weight past three tons holding a 100kW battery capacity.
Production will take place at its Goodwood facility in West Sussex and it will be built with Phantom, Ghost, and Cullinan SUV.
