Ferrari SF90 Stradale Arrives In The UAE Ferrari held a special viewing of its first series production PHEV, the 2020 SF90 Stradale. The hybrid supercar was unveiled at Casa Ferrari ahead of the Abu Dhabi Formula One Grand Prix 2019. Ferrari named the super-hybrid to commemorate its 90th anniversary, highlighting the strong link that has always existed between its roadgoing and race cars. The Prancing Horse also says the car is a perfect demonstration of how the brand immediately transitions the learning and skills it acquires in motorsport to its production cars.

Dieter Knechtel, Chief Executive Officer for Ferrari (Far East and Middle East), and Harish Aiyappa, Senior Brand Manager for Ferrari, Al Tayer Motors with the newly-launched SF90 Stradale.

The Ferrari SF90 Stradale boasts of impressive performance, backed by its 986-hp output. The car’s 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine delivers 769hp, while three electric motors raise the power up to the claimed 986hp figure. Two motors sit over each axle, while the third electric motor sits over the transmission. The electric motor system is called MGU-K (Motor Generator Unit Kinetic), derived from Formula One technology.
Although the hybrid system is quite advanced, all the driver has to do is to select one of four available driving modes, and the control logic takes care of power delivery, managing the flow between the V8, motors, and batteries.

The SF90 Stradale is capable of generating 390kg of downforce through active aerodynamics at 250kph. The Italian marque has also fitted the car with four-wheel-drive, making the Stradale the first Ferrari to feature this drivetrain layout. This ensures that the 800Nm torque output is applied in the best way to extract maximum performance from the car.

Offering so much power and advanced delivery methods, the Ferrari SF90 Stradale can rocket to the ton in 2.5 seconds. It takes about 6.7 seconds to reach 200kph. Ferrari engineers have given the car a full-electric front axle, known as the RAC-e (electronic cornering setup regulator), which provides propulsion in electric mode, independently controlling the torque delivered to the two wheels.

By dint of being a 4WD hybrid, the SF90 Stradale is a heavy car. Ferrari has employed a lot of advanced technologies to ensure its weight does not affect performance.

To get around the problems associated with 4WD and hybrid drivetrain – prominent of which is weight – the SF90 Stradale employs an all-new, multi-material technology including carbon fibre. The use of so many ground-breaking technologies in one single car means that the package commands a significant price premium over other rivals. The 2020 Ferrari SF90 Stradale starts from AED 1.9 million before options, and is now available at Al Tayer Motors showrooms.
